Five charged for animal cruelty to 125 animals
Following an investigation from the RSPCA five people have been charged with animal cruelty over the discovery of scores of neglected horses, ponies and donkeys on a Buckinghamshire farm.

Spanish political party for the animals PACMA wins 41,000 votes in elections!
On 9th March the Spanish party against bullfighting and maltreatment of animals (PACMA) won over 41,000 votes in the elections. Just over 61,000 votes would have been required for a seat.

Hilary Benn's statement on bird flu in Dorset
Secretary of State Hilary Benn said that 'On 16 January, a fourth mute swan [...] tested positive for highly pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza.' Two days ago the sixth swan tested positive. The real issue, however, is that while bird flu is endemic (always low risk of infection) in wild birds, when domestic birds (usually chickens, ducks or turkeys kept in large numbers) are infected with the virus the disease spreads like wildfire.

Animal groups take snare-ban call to Scottish Parliament
Advocates for Animals and other animal protectionists are calling on the Scottish Parliament to set an example in the UK by banning snares. Snares are indiscriminate killing devices and trap companion animals such as cats, wild animals including foxes, deer, birds, and many other species. Animals Count hopes that Scotland will indeed ban these medieval torture products and that the rest of the UK will follow suit.
