Animals Count launches new website: www.animalscount.org

With just over two weeks to go to the General Elections on 6 May, Animals Count launches a new, refreshing and appealing website, which clearly shows what we stand for: justice for everyone; including non-human animals. The colourful design integrates the latest social networking sites with our own news and election updates, making navigation easy.

Leader, Jasmijn de Boo said: “We are really pleased with the new design which is really important when you draw thousands of visitors to the website in the run up to the elections.

Voting for Animals Count will show politicians in other parties that the British public does care about animal issues and this will influence their policies and actions. Electing candidates from the main parties is a wasted opportunity for the animals, and people will not notice any real difference to their day to day lives, whichever main party wins. A vote for Animals Count is a vote for justice for everyone!”

“Animals Count launches General Election manifesto”

14 April 2010

Animals Count ─ a political party for people and animals ─ will launch its General Election manifesto on 17th April at 5pm at Housmans Bookshop, 5 Caledonian Road, Kings Cross, London N1 9DX. The bookshop specialises in books and periodicals about progressive politics, and therefore provides the ideal platform for Animals Count to launch a radical but realistic political manifesto for the Islington South and Finsbury constituency.

For the first time in UK history, a political party primarily dedicated to protecting the interests of animals will contest the General Elections, which will take place on the 6th of May. Animals Count hopes to end farming with poor welfare consequences for animals, the long distance live animal transport, all hunting for sport, and introduce an UK-wide subsidised basic animal health care system.

Richard J Deboo, Animals Count Deputy Leader and Parliamentary Candidate for Islington South and Finsbury, commented:

“This manifesto launch shows our determination to challenge the main parties on these vital issues, to demonstrate that there are other voices in our society, people who will stand up and be counted and make the call for justice for all – and mean it!

We will stand in this election not only because it is our democratic right to do so, but also because it is absolutely right for us to do so. We speak for everyone and democracy must mean that everyone is heard, and so our voice is the voice of all in the community.

Animals Count’s ultimate goal is a world in which animals are not exploited, and are treated as sentient beings.
